Operations Manager (Part-Time)

Faith Matters Network seeks a skilled part-time Operations Manager provide key administrative support our growing organization’s activities and programming.

Current programs include the Daring Compassion Movement Chaplaincy Project, a training in spiritual care for social justice movements beginning in fall 2019, Disciples of Welcome, a cohort-based learning experience for United Methodist pastors in North Carolina running from August 2019 to Spring 2021, and Rooted in Resilience, a national mapping and networking initiative focused on the horizons where social justice, spiritual practice, and healing meet. In addition, Faith Matters Network offers workshops, speaking and facilitation on varied themes including storytelling and healing, faith as a fuel for social change, Brave Space, bridging divides, anti-racism, and more. Compensation: $20,800- $22,880 per year

Expected hours: 20 hours per week

Core Responsibilities*

The Faith Matters Network Operations Manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with other members of the FMN team, to oversee the organization’s core administrative areas including following core responsibilities:

Travel and Lodging Booking:

  • Book flight and hotel space for team members’ travel;

  • Book space for events, retreats and gatherings, including lodging and food details;

Budget and Finance

  • Assist with day-to-day financial operations including processing deposits, reimbursements, and invoicing in coordination with outsourced accounting firm to facilitate efficient monthly close process

  • Grant administration, reimbursements for certain programs.

  • Oversee program finances including: payment of contractors, administration of mini-grants for Disciples of Welcome cohort members, release of grant funds for purchase and reimbursement of program supplies and participant travel, etc;

Communications and Technology:

  • Create and maintain email listservs for program participants;

  • As needed, communicate with program participants through email including reminders and follow-ups about program details;

  • Set up logistics for program-related trainings and video calls;

  • Upload content for trainings on web platforms.

Program Support:

  • Assist with setup, on-site logistics and breakdown for three Disciples of Welcome retreats (2.5 days long each in Western North Carolina);

*With the exception of the three Disciples of Welcome retreats, quarterly all-team, in-person gatherings, and occasional other in-person events (with travel and lodging covered), all job responsibilities can be conducted remotely.

Required Qualifications:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented;

  • Experience with budgets, financial documentation, logistical coordination, and event planning;   

  • Clear communicator, effective collaborator, adaptable, and self-directed;

  • Technologically savvy and able to adapt and learn to multiple applications;

  • Passionate about the mission and vision of Faith Matters Network, with shared values of personal and social transformation.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with facilitating adult education and popular education style of learning;  

  • Experience with faith-based institutions and working with clergy;

  • Familiarity with Christian theology and the Bible;

  • Proficiency in hosting Zoom video conferencing and educational web platforms (I.e, Teachable or similar);

  • Proficiency with using Google Drive applications (Docs, Sheets, Forms);

  • Familiarity with or capacity to learn program management software (such as TeamGantt).
